In this article, we are going to share how to watch DStv on more than five devices (they have to be smart devices definitely). In this scenario we assume one watching a program that the other don’t prefer, and same the programs are airing at the same time, so the alpha takes the lead, s/he is in control.
How? Dad and maybe the son want to watch the Olympics because Uganda is being represented, but Mom and girls want to watch Telemundo, and there are kids who want cartoon network or, and yeah the minions are on and they don’t want to miss. Now it’s the war of the remote and the winner takes control. But it doesn’t need to be, because as a DStv subscriber, you can download the DStv Now app to your smartphone, tablet or smart tv and watch your shows. You can use the web (watching from your computers) as well. All you need is an internet connection and you’re good to go —and there won’t be fighting for the remote anymore.
All DStv subscribers need to have is an active internet connection, DStv Now app, and a smart device; smartphone, tablet, smart TV (Connecting DStv on an Android Smart TV), desktop computer, or laptop. You can link and stream up these smart devices at the same time, and still have your decoder in the living room providing another alternative viewing option.
To get started;
Download the DStv Now app from Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS), onto your smart device. Once the download and installation are done, proceed to register with your preferred email address, country, phone number, and password, and click create an account button to proceed.
Afterward, all that is left is to link your DStv account details to the DStv Now app (where you have installed the app). Choose to enter either the Account holder’s ID number or Smart Card number or Customer number. Enter an OTP pin sent to your phone to prove verification.
Once you’re done with the installation, registration, and DStv account linking with the DStv Now app, you can watch your programs on DStv anywhere away from your decoder. Thankfully, DStv has partnerships with MTN and Airtel who have tailored internet bundles for DStv Now.
1. Airtel-DStv Now data
To buy the data, dial *175*2*6# and select your preferred data choice, a 500MBs daily bundle, a 3.5GB weekly bundle, or a monthly bundle of 12GB. The bundle expires at the time of activation.
2. MTN-DStv Now data
To buy the bundles, dial *165*4*7# and select option 3 (Dstv Now) to choose whether to buy for yourself or another recipient. Proceed to select the bundle offer of your preference, 2 or 4-hour bundle, and pay-off using mobile money.
You can watch DStv through your decoder and stream (from the DStv Now app) to two other devices simultaneously. It is therefore prudent for you to properly manage the devices connected to your account.
Here’s what the set-up looks like:
Device 1 – Standard TV:
The TV is the main deal here since it is the one that already has your DStv decoder hooked up to.
Device 2 – Desktop computer or Laptop:
Go online to now.dstv.com, and log in with your username and password. Just about everything on DStv is also available on the app, whether it’s a live sport or a series you’re obsessed with. There are even full seasons and box sets.
Device 3 – Smartphone:
With the DStv Now app Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS), log in and get streaming.
Device 4 – Tablet:
The DStv Now app works on most tablets, exactly the same way it works on a smartphone. You can also download episodes to your devices and watch them later when you’re not on Wi-Fi.
Device 5 – Smart TV:
Smart TVs are becoming more popular in homesteads and if you have one, it is likely possible to install the DStv app. Install the DStv Now app and log in using your account credentials to start streaming. The DStv Now app is available for Apple TV, Samsung smart TVs, LG smart TVs, and Android TV media players.
So if you know a friend, neighbor, family member/relative with a subscribed DStv package, ask them if they can let you have access to their account, and if you are lucky, you might get yourself some entertainment lined up for you during this lockdown.
