11 Ugandan Innovators Selected to Participate At The Africa Innovation Summit

From 6th June to 8th June, 2018, Rwanda will be hosting the second annual Africa Innovation Summit (AIS) at the Conventional Center in Kigali. The event is set to be graced by His Excellencies President Paul Kagame and Pedro Pires (ex-President of Cabo Verde).

Following the call of interested applicants to submit in their applications on their innovations that have the potential to solve the continent’s challenges, 50 have been selected out of 600 to exhibit those solutions at the forum that will be attend by hundreds of people including; Chief Executives, Corporate business men and women, mentors, tech entrepreneurs, media personalites, to mention a few.

Out of the 50 selected Innovation, eleven (11) innovation came from Uganda; PedalTap, The EpiTent, Parliament Watch Uganda, Union-Ganics (Uganics), ECGF Infusion Set, Ask Without Shame, Labtech, Community Innovation Programme, VAKAVA QUICKCOLD 640s, Akaboxi, and AgroDuuka Uganda Limited.

Applications were accepted in three (3) categories of; idea stage, ready to commercialize (minimal viable product), or ready to scale with focus on innovators tackling the challenges in Water and Sanitation, Food Security and Agriculture, Healthcare, Governance and Energy.

For those unaware, AIS serves as a platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue and a catalyst for coalition and action towards building robust innovation ecosystems in Africa.
