MTN Uganda to Award Fans Best SUPL Clubs, Players and Coaches
MTN Uganda at the end of this month is set to reward the overall best football players, clubs, and fans of the concluded 2020/21 SUPL football season.
MTN Uganda at the tail of this month is set to reward the overall football personalities and fans of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) in the just-concluded football season.
The awards dubbed “MTN SUPL FANS AWARDS” follow the successful voting and monthly cash prizes that MTN has been extending to club football players and coaches as voted by the SUPL fans from February 2021 until the end of the season in May this year. The most engaged fans online were also been beneficiaries in these monthly activations
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, President Museveni banned public gatherings which include; sports events. Therefore the advent of the pandemic denied Uganda SUPL football fans the excitement of being in the stadium to support their teams. In this case, MTN Uganda stepped in to ensure that the games remained exciting for the fans through the various online engagements.
“As MTN Uganda, we ensured that football remained exciting for the fans through the various online engagements. The fans also voted for their favorite players and coaches that we rewarded on a monthly basis. Come next month, we shall be rewarding the overall season’s winners,” Mr. Somdev Sen, MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer said.
He urged football fans to vote for their favorite personalities and team on the MTN Website sports.mtn.co.ug/fansawards and the Sanyuka Facebook page.
The award categories include; MTN Fans Player of the season, MTN Fans coach of the Season, and MTN Fans Club of the Season. In addition to the awards, up to three football fans with the highest number of online engagements will be also awarded.
MTN Fans Player of the Season and MTN Fans Coach of the Season will each receive UGX10M while the MTN Fans team of the Season will receive UGX30M
Below is the full list of categories and nominees that fans can vote for ahead of the awards:
1. MTN Fans Player of the Season
The nominees are:
- Ibrahim Orit (Vipers SC).
- Steven Mukwala (URA FC).
- Samuel Ssekamatte (Bright Stars FC).
- Eric Kambale (Express FC).
MTN Fans Coach of the Season
The nominees are:
- Waswa Bossa (Express FC).
- Sam Ssimbwa (URA FC).
- Baker Mbowa (Bright Stars FC).
- Douglas Bamweyana (Wakiso Giants).
3. MTN Fans team of the Season
The nominees are:
- Express FC.
- URA FC.
- Vipers SC.
- KCCA FC.
- Bright Stars FC.
- Uganda Police.
- Mbarara City.
- The Saints FC.
- Wakiso Giants.
- SC Villa.
- BUL FC.
- Onduparaka FC.
- Busoga United.
4. MTN Fan of the Season
Amongst the monthly fans rewarded, 3 individuals with the highest online engagement overall in the period February – May 2021, will be identified and rewarded. No voting will be done for this award. The prizes include.
- Overall, most active fan: UGX1,500,000.
- 2nd Most active fan: UGX1,000,000.
- 3rd Most active fan: UGX500,000.
