Samsung Electronics plans to roll out a number of affordable 4G-enabled smartphones and lower entry prices of such handsets as it expects fast adoption of fourth generation data service.
“Of the 16 new smartphones we have launched this year, eleven of them are 4G compliant. This pace of launch will continue as we feel the adoption of LTE would be bigger than 3G,” Asim Warsi, the Korean firm’s vice president — marketing (IT and mobile) told ET.
According to TOI, Samsung has inked a partnership with India’s Reliance Jio for BTS infrastructure for its upcoming 4G services and also launch of handsets. There have also been media reports that Samsung will launch 4G smartphones exclusively for Reliance Jio at almost half the rate at which they are currently sold.
