Expect The ‘Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+’ at the 2018 MWC

Late last year, South Korean-based Electronics firm, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. dismissed rumors of unveiling their next flagship in the S-series; the Samsung Galaxy S9 at the on-going Consumer Electronics Show (CES) by saying, “It is unlikely.”

The company at the CES announced it will launch the phablet in February at the Mobile World Congress scheduled to be held in Fira de Barcelona, Barcelona between 26th February to 1st March, 2018. This was confirmed by DongJin Koh; President of the Mobile Communication Business at Samsung Electronics.

However, we saw this coming since the South Korean smartphone firm adheres to its tradition of unveiling the s-series smartphones at the MWC – an event that holds a combination of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the global.

For now, not much is known about the Galaxy S9, but at the moment, rumors have it that the flagships (Galaxy S9 and S9+):

Might both have nearly identical aesthetics of their predecessors and will have some hardware upgrades to take on the competition.
5.8-inch display for the Galaxy S9, 6.2-inch display for the Galaxy S9+ both having Super AMOLED Infinity screens with curved edges.
There is a speculation that the US version of the Galaxy S9 series will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, while its global versions would have a similarly designed Exynos chip – likely to be the recently unveiled Exynos 9810 SoC.
6GB RAM, and may even get up to 512GB of onboard storage thanks to the newly unveiled eUFS solution from Samsung, coupled with microSD card support.
Samsung is also likely to provide google’s latest mobile operating system; the Android Oreo with a new version of its TouchWiz UX.
A dual camera setup is expected as well.

However, the S9 and S9 Plus won’t be all Samsung fans have to look forward to in 2018. Speaking on this, Koh said that the company plans to launch a foldable phone this year.
