Huawei has slowly established itself as a major player in the smartphone market in recent years, first through volume of devices, then through standout phones.
Devices like the Huawei Mate S with a pressure sensitive display and it’s Mate 8 Phablet, have all demonstrated that the company is more than capable of innovating and creating a great device.
Now it’s the turn of the P series!!!!!!
The Huawei P9 at 5.2-inches and P9 Plus at 5.5-inches are the company’s newest flagship devices, that were launched on 6th April, 2016.
However, one of their greatest rivals in this industry, Apple Inc., a company known for it’s great performance gadgets, from iPhones, iPads, Mac laptops, Apple Watches, to name a few.
With their newest flagship in the iPhone series, the iPhone 7 at 4.7 inches and iPhone 7 Plus at 5.5 inches which were launched on early this month, with pre-orders that were set for 9th September while they’ll be available on 16th September.
Versions
Huawei P9 and the iPhone 7 comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.
Release date and pricing
Huawei announced the P9 on 6th April and later planned for release across Europe and Asia from 16th April. While the iPhone 7 that was announced on 7th September was planned for release from 16th September.
Prices start at $531 (roughly 1.8 million UGX.) for the P9 while the iPhone 7 goes for $649 (roughly 2.2 million UGX.) for the 32GB entry-level variant.
Design
P9 is the smartphone with a virtual triple antenna, you don’t need to worry about your hand position under different signal conditions as for the iPhone 7 does away with the antenna lines and also feature a redesigned home button which is now solid-state and force-sensitive.
While the P9 comes with a fingerprint biometric sensor on the rear, the iPhone 7 Fingerprint Magnet sensor is still built into the new Home button.
P9 is be available in Haze Gold, Titanium Grey, Rose Gold, Prestige Gold, Ceramic White, Red, Blue and Mystic Silver while the iPhone 7 will be available in Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Black and Jet Black.
The P9 also features a unibody measuring 145 x 70.9 x 7mm and weighs 144g, while the iPhone measures 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm weighing 138g.
Display

The P9 has a Full HD resolution, which equates to 423 PPI (Pixels Per Inch) while the iPhone 7 has Retina HD display equating at 326 PPI. Huawei also shouts about its brightness and color saturation, especially when compared to the iPhone 7. It claims it has 96% color saturation, while brightness is rated at 500 nits for the P9, the iPhone 7 features 625 max brightness.[related-posts]
Specs and Hardware
In terms of internal hardware; the P9 is powered by Kirin 955 chipset, that’s based on the TSMC 16nm FinFET Plus chip technology while with the iPhone 7, it comes with the company’s latest chipest; the A10 Fusion chip with 64-bit architecture embedded with M10 motion co-processor.
The P9 and iPhone 7 come in 32GB entry-level variant. However, there is a microSD card slot for further expansion for the P9 which the iPhone 7 doesn’t have.
The P9 has a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector which enables a fast charging while the iPhone 7 has a v2.0, reversible connector that charges it’s built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery via USB to computer system or power adapter.
Operating System
Both smartphones are running the latest OS, the P9 has a Huawei Emotion UI 4.1 interface which sits over the top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow as iPhone 7 features, iOS 10 which is believed to be the world’s most advanced mobile OS. As some believe, tt brings your iPhone to life in more intelligent and expressive ways than ever.
