itel Mobile has today announced that it will be unveiling another set of its smartphones in Uganda in May. The phones in mention, the itel P38 series come a month after the company unveiled the itel P17 series smartphones.

The P38 smartphones become the third set of smartphones after the P58 (launched in February) and P17 (launched in April) that the company has launched this year. The P38 and P38 Pro will be launched on May 2nd, however, the company told PC Tech Magazine that the P38 will be available first and the P38 Pro will come later in the month.

The company didn’t give us any other comment other than the launch date of the smartphones.

Well, we don’t know much about the phone but a company representative told us the P38 series smartphones will come with Fast Charging capabilities — making them the first itel smartphones to support fast charging.

In a brief presentation shared with us, the company states that the key selling points of the P38 series will be the fast charging, large battery (rumored to be 5,000mAh), fashionable design, and smooth performance (upgrade in processor and chipset probably). The phones will have an AI Power Master feature that can intelligently learn the user’s usage habits, and intelligently adjust the power consumption of the software from the background, so as to achieve the purpose of balanced power saving.

The specifications expected for the P38 series, are probably a large screen, a 6-Inch with a resolution of 720 pexels. As seen in a teaser ad, the phones will have a watch-drop notch that will house the front camera. The phone has 2.5D curved edges and thinner bezels making the screen larger, slimmer, and more elegant. In the same ad, the phone looks thinner than its predecessors — this will give a comfortable grip for users.

Dual cameras are a bigger deal to smartphones these days since the design of smartphone cameras keeps evolving. The itel P38 series will come with dual rear cameras which according to the company’s presentation focus faster, are more accurate, and avoid blurring.

The P38 is expected to come with 2GB RAM and 32GB onboard memory while the pro version will come with twice the P38 memory. Both phones will support an SD Card of up to 128GB to expand their storage. The phones will have (with no doubt) the Android 11 GO operating system — this will play a vital role in the performance of the phones to avoid or give minimal lags. The operating system will couple with the company’s UI v7.6 which comes with anti-theft and privacy vault features, among others.

Something new that the company has emphasized is the Memory Fusion Technology which will use the available onboard storage to expand the phone’s RAM. “This technology will be using ROM space to expand RAM, even if multiple applications run at the same time, there is no lag, smooth experience without stagnation,” states in a company’s presentation. Therefore, when your phone has sufficient storage, part of the storage space can be converted into expanded memory which makes the system run more smoothly and give you a better smartphone user experience.

The price of the phone is unknown but the range should be between an RRP of UGX230,000 to UGX245,000. itel phones are not expensive because the company wants to bridge the smartphone penetration thus making the phones affordable.

What we are sure of as confirmed by the company, the phones will come in three color options; Nebula Black, Galaxy Blue, and Spruce Green.
