Heads up for itel users! itel Mobile will soon be launching their new smartphone in the A-series in Uganda. PC Tech Magazine believes the phone, itel A58 along with a pro version, the A58 Pro might be launched in the Ugandan market next week after a successful launch in Nigeria.
iTel Mobile, a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings produces mainly entry-level and budget-friendly smartphones that are enriched will all the basic phone features and you shouldn’t expect any premium features, however, the phones still do a decently good job just like any other smartphone would.
The itel A58 and A58 Pro will succeed the A56 phones that were launched in 2020 amidst the Covid-19 crisis. The phone is out there already and therefore this isn’t a spoiler, and yes! the itel A58 comes with slight improvements from its predecessor, ie. the display, design [appears more flat], operating system upgrade, cameras are AI-powered, among others.
According to the company’s website, the itel A58 is coming with a large screen compared to the A56, so that’s a 6.6-inch display with a waterdrop notch that houses the 5MP front-facing camera which has the ability to shoot videos in 720p at 30fps —which is not bad for an entry-level smartphone. The rear camera on the other end is a dual setup with 5MP + QVGA powered by AI and should be in a position to produce much better photos compared to A56. The camera also shoots videos in 720p at 30fps.
Looking under the hood, the company kept the quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB RAM with onboard storage of 16GB expandable with a microSD card of up to 32GB. Alertanvely the pro version, the A58 Pro has 2GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The company states that the phones have an “i-boost 1.0” feature for a better “smoother” mobile experience —which we will find out what it means when the phone launches in Uganda.
You should expect an upgrade in the mobile OS, the itel 58 will come with Android 11, and the phone is powered on a 4,000mAh battery —which should be good enough for daily use on a single charge. The phone is equipped with an AI Power Master [as termed by the company] to intelligently optimize the phone’s battery life. There’s no doubt this is one of the best features of this device. The battery.
As per what we have read online, and heard from a few critics and smartphone reviewers, we should expect better performance, and fashionable designer phone.
Well, we don’t much about the phone, mostly the price which isn’t easy to predict but we believe the won’t exceed a price tag of UGX240,000 and the pro version could go up to UGX260,000, probably.
The phone is expected to come in more color options. Its predecessor was only available in two color options, but for the A58, it will available in sky cyan, starry black, and dreamy purple —well that’s mostly in markets outside Uganda, as we believe Uganda “might” only have one color variant and that’s the starry black.
We have no comment from itel Mobile Uganda, I guess we ought to wait till the phone launches in the market.
