Uber is now available as a Universal Windows 10 app

Uber’s product team has now upgraded its smartphone only experience into an all-round Window Universal app. The app which was earlier locked down to just the smartphone for Windows 10 Mobile users has now evolved to an app that scales to tablets and desktops, powered by Windows 10.

The cool bit to note here is that you can now actually call for an Uber ride from your desktop. Microsoft has commented that users will just need to register with their mobile number (like always) on the desktop app and you can book a ride directly from your desktop without the need to touch your Windows 10 powered smartphone.[related-posts]

And the cool bits don’t end here. Uber has also included Cortana voice command support, meaning that you can now hail an Uber cab with just your voice. Obviously being a universal app, it works across devices. And the app also gets live tile support to keep users updated with the current status of their cab.

More importantly Uber users with new Windows 10 app also qualify for a free ride (a credit up to $20) if they use the code MSFTWIN10 under the promotions tab.

Let’s just hope that this is the first of many Universal Windows apps to come as its high time that developer
