Rt. Robinah Nabbanja Launches Huawei’s DigiTruck Project in Kakumiro
The Huawei DigiTruck Project in Kakumiro which is currently ongoing until May 15 hopes to train over 400 locals including civil servants, women, students, politicians, and business owners.
Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja over the weekend launched Huawei’s DigiTruck Project in her home district of Kakumiro calling upon all the people of Kakumiro to embrace the initiative including those by the government that aim to skill people with digital skills.
At the launch, Nabbanja thanked the management of Huawei Technologies Uganda Co. Limited for bringing such an initiative to the people of Kakumiro and noted that ICT is the way to go. She also remarked, “The whole world is moving digital, and Kakumiro and Uganda at large can not be left behind.”
Nabbanja encouraged the learners who have been trained so far to use the knowledge to contribute to the development of Uganda. She also advised the locals to go digital in their various lines of work urging that business owners can use these digital skills for record management and marketing purposes.

Huawei Technologies Uganda Co. Limited Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Gao Jian expressed his gratitude to the government for their unwavering support in making this initiative a reality.
“Together, we are not just imparting computer skills, we are opening doors to endless opportunities, fostering innovation, and paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous Uganda,” said Gao — who also urged the youth to seize this opportunity with determination and enthusiasm.
“The skills you acquire here will not only empower you but also contribute to the development and progress of Kakumiro and Uganda at large,” said Gao.
The Resident District Commissioner of Kakumiro District, Maj (Rtd) Matovu David also thanked Huawei Technologies Uganda Co. Limited for extending such services not only to their people but to all those in the rural areas of Uganda. He noted that once people acquire these skills they will be in a position to access e-services without the need of having to move long distances to Kakumiro town and Kakumiro District Headquarters where they are being over-exploited by other locals who are aware of them.
The Huawei DigiTruck project is part of Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative, which aims to drive global inclusion and sustainability. In Uganda, the initiative partnered with the Ministry of Labour, Gender and Social Development, and other government entities.

The Huawei DigiTruck Project including other Huawei programs such as the Huawei ICT Academy, Huawei ICT Competitions, Seeds for the Future program, and the ICT Job Fair fall under Huawei’s talent development program in Uganda The programs in partnership with the Government of Uganda have been successful for the past two years.
The Huawei Digitruck project has so far skilled over 3,500 Ugandans, 59.4% being male and 40.6% being female. The goal is to train over 10,000 Ugandans in three years.
