San Diego, California-based Telecommunications and Semiconductors firm; Qualcomm has unveiled three new Snapdragon processors; Snapdragon 429, Snapdragon 439, and Snapdragon 632 SoC at the on-going 2018 Mobile World Congress in Shanghai – designed for smartphones and tablets.
The new processors are claimed to make dual cameras and a few other features more common in mid-range smartphones to help them keep pace with the bells and whistles of premium smartphones considering the fact that they are meant for entry-level devices.
According to the NDTV reports, Qualcomm announced that commercial devices based on Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439, and Snapdragon 429 SoCs are expected to launch in the second half of 2018.
“The introduction of Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 builds off Qualcomm Technologies’ highest-selling mobile platforms and provides users with increased performance and power efficiency, superior graphics, AI capabilities and enhanced connectivity features,” said Kedar Kondap, Vice President, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies.
Snapdragon 632 SoC
Qualcomm has claimed that the processor brings mainstream gaming, 4K video capture, artificial intelligence, and fast LTE speeds.
According to reports online, the processor is built on a 14nm advanced FinFET process technology, boasting up to 40% higher performance thanks to the combination of the Qualcomm Kryo 250 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU.
In terms of optics, comes two options 24-megapixel camera or dual cameras at 13-megapixel each.
Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 SoCs
The processors come with artificial intelligence capabilities that enhance the camera, voice, and security experience. They are built on a 12nm (2 times smaller than the 632 SoC) advanced FinFET process technology, and the processors improve CPU performance and power efficiency by up to 25%.
In terms of optics, the Snapdragon 439 processor supports a 21MP camera or dual cameras with 8MP each, while the Snapdragon 429 SoC includes support for 16MP single-camera and 8MP dual-cameras.
It worth mentioning that the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is one of the biggest events in the gadget calendar. With the official event usually taking place every February but occasionally, occurs in the first week of March at the Fira Gran Via venue in Barcelona, Spain. Then follows the annual summer event in Shanghai, China – the biggest mobile event in Asia.
