Google Launches a New Web Browser Suitable for Low-End Android Smartphones in Africa

Mountain View based internet firm; Google Inc. is now following to footsteps of tech firms such as Facebook, Sype, Line, Telegram, to mention a few that already have lite versions for their applications that would be suitable for low-end smartphones.

Google in new reports launched a new web browser dubbed WebLite in Africa that will also be suitable to low-end smartphones. The browser is reportedly said to deliver search results faster, meaning users will spend less on bundles.

In a statement, the firm said; Africa has nearly 40% of people with Android devices experiencing a slow or delayed connection while they’re on the web due to usage of low RAM devices.

Already confirmed, the browser is available for users in Nigeria, and Kenya.

The new development is also aimed at improving the search experience for people in places where network connections are slow, we quote Google’s Kenya Country Manager; Charles Murito.

Murito added that the WebLite app will improve the mobile search experience by trans-coding mobile search pages into lighter pages that are easier to load.

Notably, WebLite is already available in Indonesia, India, Brazil and 50 other countries, and analyses show that these optimized pages load three times faster and use 80% less data.[related-posts]
