Africa’s Talking, the provider of SMS, USSD, Voice and Airtime APIs to tech startups and SMEs will be hosting a free training on how to use its Sandbox at Makerere University‘s Global Business Labs on Friday 31st March.
The training shall focus on introducing and showing developers how they can take advantage of Africa’s Talking Sandbox to build and test their applications for free and deploy when ready for production.
Nicholas Kamanzi, the Developer Relations at Africa’s Talking says the Sandbox helps developers to build applications without spending any money. “Say you want to build a USSD application that sends money to farmers, you would need to acquire a code from the regulator (UCC) or an aggregator at a cost, sign contracts, then start building. This whole process might take weeks or months.”
“Whereas with the Sandbox, you can just sign up for an account at www.sandbox.africastalking.com and start building. When you are happy with everything you want to build and you are sure it works, then you can go ahead and commit the money”, he continued.
Kamanzi says the focus of this event is to reach students at Makerere University who are working on their final year projects that want to reach millions of mobile subscribers and show them how they can in a few minutes build demos for their presentations.
