MTN-Ghana, the leading telecommunications provider in Ghana, and operating in 21countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, has commissioned the second of ten ICT Centres of learning at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti. The Centre, which is a joint project with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ghana, aims at complementing the government’s efforts at bridging the digital gap between pupils in the urban and rural communities, as well as supporting the implementation of the mandatory ICT component of the new educational reform.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN, Mr. Michael Ikpoki, said it was also part of the MTN Enriching Life project, aimed at giving back to Asanteman, in the area of health and entrepreneurial skills development. He commended chiefs and the people of the community for their cooperation to help make the dream come through, and advised them to cultivate the habit of maintenance, in order to maintain the facility.

The CEO cautioned the pupils to use the facility to improve their ICT programme in next year’s academic exams, and not to use it negatively in the areas of fraud (sakawa), and take ICT programmes very serious, in order to compete with those in the urban centres.

In a related development, the new ultra-modern and a spacious MTN main office in Kumasi has been inaugurated at Nhyiaeso to facilitate the operations of staff for quality customer services in the metropolis.
