It is always important to check your account statements —and there are several reasons why taking a few minutes of your time to review your account transactions statement is worth your time. For this article we won’t be looking at the bank statements that we have come to know, but we shall be briefly looking at mobile money statements —to be specific, MTN mobile money.
MTN mobile money customers always want to see their statements —to know how their mobile money transactions stand. So rather than going to any MTN service centre to get your mobile money transaction statement, the telco made it easier and now allows its mobile money customers to view their statement either by USSD or with the MTNMoMo application.
If you have the MTNMoMo application, it is so much easier to follow up and provides more transactions than when using the USSD option. In this article, we shall specifically look at the MTNMoMo app, but to use the USSD —dial *165*8*4# and select either a mini statement or request statement. On requesting for a statement, you’re given an option of a day or week, meaning you can only receive you mobile money transaction statement for a day or a week.
We recommend using the MTNMoMo app as it gives much detailed, organized, and more transactions compared to when using USSD. The selfcare app is part of MTN’s strategy to ensure that it continues to play in the digital space by delivering products that makes the lives of customers brighter.
Having access to your mobile money account/transaction statement is one way of ensuring the safety of your account and tracking expenses. Whenever there’s a dispute about a payment you can follow up with the statement to get proof.
To get started, launch/open the MTNMoMo app, and it you don’t have the app —it is available for download from Google Playstore (Android) or Appstore (iOS).
Enter your MTN mobile money number and press NEXT to continue, and enter a One Time Pin (OTP) code sent to your number via an SMS. You will be then requested to enter you 5-digit mobile money pin to continue, the pin is confirmed with another OTP to prove the number you’re using is yours. Enter the pin to log in to your MTN mobile money app dashboard —and here’s where you will access your statement from.
Once logged in, the app will show you, your mobile money balance and your recent transaction.
Then to view your statement, below your mobile money balance, click ‘See Statement’. On clicking the option, it will show your recent mobile money transactions. The statement shows the total amount of money sent in and out, as well divides and shows every transaction you make on sending and receiving money.
All transactions made using mobile money, from receiving and sending money, to buying MTN bundles, to paying for services and utility bills, among others will be listed. Up to 100+ transactions will be listed.
Notably, while using the MTNMoMo app, the user does not need to have an internet connection. On the other hand, the does not incur any fee as the only fee(s) you’re charged is while making transactions like sending money to recipients, sending money to the bank, among others.
