Micro-blogging website, Twitter has promised to lock down users who change their birth year in the new viral prank.
The prank claims users who change their birth-year to 2007 can get them access to new profile color schemes, admin privileges and even a verified check.
Twitter took to its very platform, in a tweet posted, “We’ve noticed a prank trying to get people to change their Twitter birthday in their profile to 2007 to unlock new color schemes. Please don’t do this. You’ll get locked out for being under 13 years old.”
Multiple online reports claim the prank comes ahead of April 1st, which happens to be April Fool’s Day.
The micro-blogging platform didn’t mention how many were affected because of this. However, reports do state that some had fallen victim(s) of the prank.
The Verge reports that those unfortunate enough to have fallen for the prank can contact Twitter Support. To get their accounts back they are asked to upload a copy of their government-issued ID.
