Nokia 8 Sirocco Gets Android 9 Pie Update

Finnish-based consumer electronics, HMD Global in a press statement, announced it was rolling out the Android Pie update for the Nokia 8 Sirocco globally.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco being the 8th Nokia handset to get the update, will be getting the 1379.5MB OTA download. Even though the update is rolling out globally, users should note that it might take a couple of days to reach all devices.

The update ensures that Nokia smartphones improve with time, thanks to intuitive Artificial Intelligence which learns user habits to ensure the most effective and efficient experience.

Android 9 Pie comes with features including; Adaptive Brightness—by learning from your interactions, New system navigation, Tap into gestures, Improved notifications, Slices—identifies relevant information of your favorite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them, among others.

Nokia 8 Sirocco was announced in Feb. 2018, and then officially released in April 2018. The 5.5-Inch P-OLED display smartphone is powered by a 10nm Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with an Octa-core processor, Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB RAM, and an internal storage of 128GB. Comes with Android 8.0 but it’s now up-gradable to Android 9 (Pie) — supported on a non-removable Li-Ion 3,260mAh battery which supports fast charging (Quick Charge 4.0) and Qi wireless charging.

Notably, for those with the Nokia 8 Sirocco handset, it’s definitely worth checking your ‘System Updates’ section to check if the download is available for your device.

In terms of imaging and video, the dual rear supports a 12MP 25mm (wide) with an aperture of f/1.8 and 13MP with an aperture of f/2.6, 2x optical zoom sensors. While the front facing camera comes with a 5MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0.

Connectivity perspective, the Nokia 8 Sirocco, supports bluetooth v5.0, USB v3.1, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, among others.
