After multiple teasers in the early days of Dec., the Honor View 20 (Honor V20) was officially announced yesterday. With the unveiling event held in China, and a global launch scheduled for Jan. 22nd in Paris, France.
The Honor V20 will be the company’s first flagship in 2019.
The flagship smartphone is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy A8s and Huawei’s Nova 4 that launched Dec. 10th and Dec. 17th respectively.
Key highlights of the phone include a 48MPl Sony IMX586 rear sensor, HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, a 25MP front camera 4,000mAh battery, and Link Turbo technology. Confirmed earlier, the Honor V20 comes with Link Turbo technology that allows the phone to switch between data and Wi-Fi on its own, in order to keep the browsing unaffected and buffer-free.
Specs and Features
The dual-SIM runs on Android 9.0 Pie based on MagicUI 2.0.1. It sports a 6.4-inch full-HD+ TFT LCD display with a screen aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Powered by a 7nm octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC (2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.6GHz + 2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 1.92GHz + 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz ). Couples 6GB RAM/128GB ROM and 8GB RAM/256GB ROM options. There’s no support for a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Looking at the cameras, the rear camera comes with a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and the front has a 25MP sensor. Both are support by a LED flash. Camera features include A.I photo, night scene, portrait, fun AR, time-lapse photography, slow-motion, among others.
In terms of connectivity, the handset supports Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C.
The Honor V20 is all supported on a non-removable 4000mAh battery. This as well supports fast charging.[related-posts]
Price and Availability
The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage goes for CNY 2,999 (roughly UGX1,618,000) and the 8GB RAM + 128GB goes for CNY 3,499 (roughly UGX1,888,000). The handsets are available in Charm Blue, Red, and Midnight Black color options.
Pre-orders are open, as shipping is scheduled for Dec. 28th.
