MTN Halts Mobile Money Registration for its Kampala Marathon

MTN Uganda has on Thursday closed the MTN Kampala Marathon registration option through the mobile money. The option to register for the upcoming sporting event begun when the event was launched on 25th October, 2018.

The decision has been taken not to extend that deadline in order to ensure that already registered participants can collect their kit before the stock runs out.

Valery Okecho, the Manager Corporate Communications at MTN Uganda in a press statement said, the process mobile money registration has been incredibly successful. However, bringing it to a stop will help them focus on the registered participants to be able to pick their kits.

Meanwhile, physical registration –  at a cost of UGX25,000 per kit, and kit collection are still ongoing. All this is currently held at the, MTN Headquarters at the former BAT building, Stanbic Garden City, William Street, MTN Service Centres along Kampala Road, Lugogo Mall, Clock Tower, Forest Mall, and Victoria Mall in Entebbe.

All proceedings collected from this 15th annual sporting event will go towards improving Maternal Health Care in Uganda to ensure safe childbirth, for expectant mothers.

The MTN Kampala Marathon takes place on Sunday, 25th November 2018 starting at the Kololo Airstrip. The 42km, 21km and 5km categories will be flagged off at the Kololo, Upper Terrace while the 10km race flags off inside the Kololo airstrip.[related-posts]
