Apple is LIVE Streaming the iPhone Event on Twitter

For the first ever, Cupertino-based tech firm, Apple Inc. is live streaming the iPhone event on Micro-Blogging website, Twitter. The company in one of its Promoted Ad tweet wrote, ‘Join us September 12 at 10 a.m. PDT to watch the #AppleEvent live on Twitter. Tap below and we’ll send you updates on event day.’ Apple confirmed the Twitter live stream to TechCrunch on Tuesday morning.

According to reports by TechCrunch, the news backs up an earlier report which claimed Apple would expand the ability to watch the event to Twitter, instead of only through Safari and Apple TV or Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, as it has been.

TechCrunch reports further claim that many had been speculating the event would live stream on Twitter, due to the wording Apple is using in its Promoted Tweet about the event.

Live streaming the event on Twitter is a bit surprising considering the fact that the Cupertino tech firm has had a weird relationship with Twitter. According to TheNextWeb, Apple opened its account in 2011, but never set a profile picture until September 2, 2016.

A few days later, the company accidentally leaked the iPhone 7 details in its first to over 2 million of its followers before its official launch on September 12, 2016. They then deleted all the tweets and haven’t posted another tweet in the two years since. That’s why it surprised many when the company said it was live streaming the iPhone event on the Twitter platform.

As far as we know, Apple is said to have lined up 3 iPhone models, one claimed to be a dual-sim. If the rumors turn out to be true, it will be the first ever dual-sim iPhone since 2007 and might be limited to only the Asian markets.

The expected models are said to be an iPhone Xs with a 5.8-inch OLED display rumored to be priced at UGX4 million, a larger 6.5-inch OLED model; iPhone Xs Plus said to be priced at UGX4.6 million, and a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD variant; iPhone Xc which will cost about UGX3.2 million.

The launch event kicks off at 10 AM PDT (8 PM EAT) and can also be streamed via Apple TV and Apple Safari.[related-posts]
