Registration For the 2017 MTN Kampala Marathon Closes Today

Telecom firm; MTN Uganda has announced today being the deadline and closure of registration for its 14th annual MTN Kampala Marathon. Registration is at its tail-end as participants have been given till 6p.m to ensure they participate in the biggest sporting event in Uganda.

The sporting event is set to take place on Sunday, 19th November, at the Kololo Independence Grounds. As we have been mentioning before in our previous posts, MTN had a change in this year’s event, as participants will choose where their donations/proceedings will go to, in other words running for two different causes – either to Improve Komamboga and Kiswa Maternal Health Centers or Reduce Child Exposure to Cancer by replacing cancer causing asbestos roofing in 20 Kampala Schools.

“We have seen people who have registered to run towards improving maternal health in Kiswa and Komamboga health centers and also replacing cancer-causing asbestos roofing in some schools,” Valery Oketcho, the Corporate Communications Manager at MTN Uganda said in a press statement.

The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has already confirmed that the routes have been secured.

“There have been concerns about the ongoing road construction interrupting the running sessions. We have a team that is on a daily monitoring the proposed routes and ensuring that there are no obstacles. The assurance we have from KCCA is that on marathon day, the roads being constructed will be clear of obstacles that may hinder running,” Dominic Otuchet; President of the UAF confirmed in a media press briefing on Wednesday.

Notably, the Marathon has attracted elite runners not only from Uganda but also from different parts of the world since it is certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

You can register from any of the places mentioned below not later than 6pm:

  1. Stanbic William Street Branch.
  2. Stanbic Garden City Branch.

  4. MTN shop Lugogo.
  5. MTN shop Forest Mall.
