Technology, Africa’s key to education

Education is pivotal to the growth of any nation and at Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Global Forum 2012, being held in Prague, Czech Republic, a number of solutions are being showcased that can be used to boost education in Africa, as well as across the world.

It celebrates the world’s most innovative educators and school leaders for bringing technology to life in the classroom and impacting millions of students,” said Microsoft.

Educators and learners from around the world have converged at the three-day summit to explore, identify and learn from each other on how best to use technology in education.

The theme for this year, ‘Your ideas matter’, will serve as a platform for the presentations of innovative ideas from more than 250,000 participants hoping to win one of 18 global Innovative Educator Awards.

Africa is well represented with numerous entries also vying for top prizes.

“This year’s event will build on the momentum of 2011 Global Forum announcements that included a partnership with The British Council to help improve quality and access in education and training around the world and Microsoft Partners in Learning’s new management of the TEACH campaign, a US effort to recruit great teachers to the classroom and improve the perception of the teaching profession,” added Microsoft.

This year is expected to attract more than 500 education leaders, school leaders, teachers, press and government officials from more than 75 countries, as it recognizes the best of worldwide technology and education.
