The app, few weeks ago, uses crowd sourcing technology to enable users to let each other locate stores where stocks haven’t run out.
Abasteceme – meaning “Supply Me” in English, is a free Android app which has already been downloaded more than 12,000 times, mostly by residents of Caracas (the capital city), said the Creator, Jose Augusto Montiel.
He said: “Lots of things are in short supply, but what people are most worried about is finding toilet paper.”
Economists are blaming scarcity on government imposed price controls. President claims anti-government forces are deliberately buying up basics like toilet paper to destabilize the country.
