Centenary Technology Services Team Inspects Their Tier 3 Data Centre Construction in Masaka

The Centenary Technology Services (CTS) Leadership team has conducted an on-site inspection of their Tier 3 data centre which is currently under construction in Masaka. The facility poised to become one of the most advanced data centres represents a crucial step in the country’s efforts to enhance data security and internet connectivity.

The inspection focused on ensuring that all construction phases meet the rigorous standards required for Tier 3 data centres, which promise 99.982% availability.

The team assessed various aspects of the construction, from energy efficiency measures to the robustness of security protocols, to ensure that the data centre will serve as a reliable backbone for Uganda’s growing digital economy.

“The construction of the Tier 3 data centre is not just a technological upgrade; it’s a stimulant for economic development in Masaka and beyond,” said Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, CEO of Centenary Technology Services. “We’ve seen remarkable economic impacts, such as the local hardware dealer who has become the largest volume depositor in the region in Centenary Bank, thanks to the business generated by supplying our construction site. This project is fueling local enterprises and supporting sustainable economic growth.”

Peter Kahiigi, Chief Technology Officer at Centenary Technology Services, highlighted the significance of the civil works on site.

“The quality of civil works here is impressive,” he said. “Our regular inspection ensures all construction complies with Tier 3 standards, critical for achieving high availability and operational excellence. This data centre will significantly boost connectivity not only in Uganda’s western and southwestern regions but also extend our reach to the DRC and Rwanda, enhancing our network robustness across borders.”
