WhatsApp for Android users are finally receiving new features like support for all types of file transfers (including archives) and shared media bundling. In addition, the latest WhatsApp’s update also enables text formatting in the chat. When typing text in a chat window, users can now tap and hold to select the text to easily bold, strikethrough, or italicize.
The new WhatsApp for Android update also brings minor change to the WhatsApp call screen where users will now have to swipe up instead of sideways to pick up a call.
All these features were seen last month in the WhatsApp Android Beta version. Notably, the Facebook-owned messaging platform started testing support for all types of file transfers on Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone with a limited number of users, removing any hindrance of file sharing on WhatsApp.
With now these new updates, WhatsApp users will now be able to send a bunch of photos to their friends, who will receive them bundled as an album, send all type of file types, and also answer you WhatsApp video or voice call differently by sliding the answer key upwards. Earlier on, users would answer by sliding the answer key sideways.
In the illustration below, we tried out the bundle media and also sending an apk file:
Notably, earlier this week, Twitter account; @WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp is testing one of its most anticipated feature; the Recall and Revoke feature in Windows Phone. There was no mention/comment whether the feature would be made available to the Android Beta community.
The feature will let users delete their message from the recipient’s phone only if the recipient hasn’t read it yet. This will help many who mistakenly send messages to the wrong person.[related-posts]
