The Board of trustees of MTN Foundation has announced a commitment to invest UGX 5Billion into community Transformation projects across the country.
The commitment was announced by the Chairperson MTN Foundation Mr. George William Egadu at a press on Monday March 6th at MTN Towers in Kampala.
Mr. Egadu clarified that the move is part of the activities and commitments meant to celebrate 10 years of investing in Community development.
“The MTN Foundation has been around for the last 10 years and has made great strides in empowering the undeserved communities. I believe that with this Ushs 5billion, we will be able to expand the footprint of impact to more deserving communities across the country,” he said.
In his remarks, MTN Uganda CEO, Wim Vanehellepute revealed that with the MTN foundation 5Billion project, 5 schools will be constructed, Equip hospitals with health materials needed, make funds available incase of disasters to the affected areas and also provide sanitary pads.
MTN has been at the center of community development and empowerment through different avenues where they have given back to their customers.
Through the annual MTN Marathon, the Telecom has been able to support schools around Kampala, extend safe water to different areas in the country among other activities.
Anthony Katamba, the Chairman Foundation Executive Committee hinted on the introduction of the MTN Internet Bus which provides computer training across the country and the skilling for the future initiative in partnership with the National Curriculum development Center initiative which is aimed at digitizing the Uganda secondary school syllabus.[related-posts]
