As part of efforts to eliminate the cost barrier and drive internet connectivity among Ugandans, MTN Uganda today announced substantial discounts on three of the “MTN Smart Series” phones, the MTN Smart Mega, Smart Mini and the Smart Buzz.
The discounts take effect immediately and will allow customers to save an average of 30% when they buy the phone. In addition, customers who buy the phone will continue getting FREE data bundles offered by MTN for all new purchases.
Today’s highest discount has been applied on the MTN Smart Mini, a 3G-enabled dual-SIM Android phone whose price has been reduced by 56,000/-, representing a 36 percent discount. The MTN Smart Mini will now be available at just UGX. 99,000/-.
The MTN Smart Mega has had its price reduced by 25 percent to UGX. 139,000/= while the MTN Smart Buzz’s price goes down by 19 percent to UGX. 89,000/-. All the three smartphones are dual-SIM and support 3G connectivity.
Customers who buy any of these MTN Smart series devices, needs to dial *160*8# to get the FREE data bundles.
By making smartphones easily available at very friendly prices, MTN is targeting to remove the barrier to Internet access, especially for young people who have so far not been able to access the Internet due to the issue of affordability of the devices.
“With these latest phone offers, MTN is significantly reducing the price of devices to ensure customers get the highest value for their money. Coupled with MTN’s countrywide 3G network, the offer further demonstrates MTN’s continued commitment to removing all barriers to connectivity,” said MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer Mapula Bodibe.
“We want to connect more new customers to the Internet, thereby enabling the opportunities presented by a Bold, New Digital world. Through the MTN Smart Series, MTN is increasing access to affordable 3G devices which we believe will go a long way in penetrating previously untapped segments that haven’t tried data due to the cost of the device,” she added.
