itel Mobile has opened a new store at Akamwesi Shopping Mall along Gayaza-Kampala Road in a strategic move to make its services and products more accessible and affordable to consumers of Kyebando and surrounding areas. Simultaneously, the company was launching its first-ever smartphone in its new CITY series, the itel CITY 100, a budget entry-level smartphone embodying the series motto: Fun, Yet Strong.

The store is a one-stop shop not only for the latest smartphones but also a place where consumers can explore a wide range of accessories, including earbuds, power banks, and smartwatches, as well as household appliances like kettles, blenders, shavers, solar panels, etc. It sets itself as a place where people can fulfill all their technology and lifestyle needs. The availability of a varied product line for consumers indeed goes a long way to show that the brand is not only committed but also supports the local market in dynamic life changes with products at a pocket-friendly price.

In addition, the shop is not just for sales; it also doubles as a customer service center for the patrons of the store. Customers will be able to lodge complaints, seek technical support, or get help with device issues. This signals itel’s intention to deepen its customer relationships and create a more reliable after-sales experience—an area where many brands fall short.

A spokesperson with itel Uganda not only conveyed the company’s community-focused vision but also went on to say: “This is not just a store. It is a commitment to equipping the Ugandans with the right technology. Therefore, we are ensuring that people are reached out to physically, to whom we are usually not accessible, and we get the trust strengthened continuously.”

“Our goal is to bring affordability, convenience, and innovation directly to the people,” she added. “The Akamwesi Shopping Mall location strategically allows us to better serve our customers in Kyebando and nearby communities, cutting down the time and distance they have to travel to access quality tech solutions and after-sales support.”

The store’s position on a busy corridor such as Gayaza Road has provided benefits not only in the area of Namugongo and Kisaasi but also in the neighborhoods around.

“Those living in Kyebando and surrounding areas will be the main supporters of this store,” a resident told PC Tech Magazine. “Previously, we had to travel great distances (to Kampala), but now, everything is near us.”

As mentioned prior, the opening of the store coincided with the unveiling of the CITY 100, a new budget smartphone built for the adventurous, expressive, and connected young people (as per the company) who embrace technology not just as a tool, but as a way of life. Due to the fact that the majority of consumers prefer affordable smartphones with unmatched performance, the CITY 100 is projected to gain much from the market.

Available countrywide in three color options; Navy Blue, Pure Titanium, and Fairy Purple at a price tag of UGX350,000 (which comes with a 20,000mAh power bank and a MagSpeaker), the phone has 6.75-inch IPS LCD display, 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, a 12nm Unisoc chipset, an Octa-core processor, a Mali-G57 GPU, runs on Android 14 coupled with the company’s Pure 14.5 OS (no bloatware), and powered by a 5,200mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. In addition, it comes with a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera (both) enhanced with AI, and can shoot videos up to 720p at 30fps.

The company, boasting tens of retail outlets in the country, remains mindful of the importance of continuing local touchpoints to further consolidate its status as a leading player in inexpensive tech. The innovations that the smartphone takes to the customer at their convenience are the route to growth, and that is how it reaches out to unknown service-desperate areas.
