Carrefour Uganda Celebrates Fourth Anniversary with Massive Rewards for Shoppers

Carrefour, the retail giant under the exclusive operation of Majid Al Futtaim in Uganda, is ringing in its fourth anniversary in the country with a grand celebration that promises exciting rewards for customers.

From January 31 to February 13, 2024, shoppers can anticipate winning up to UGX 57 million and enjoying exclusive discounts.

As a token of appreciation for the unwavering loyalty of its MyCLUB members, Carrefour will be giving away UGX one million daily to four lucky members over the course of 14 days. This initiative amounts to a total of UGX 56 million in rewards for the fortunate winners.

In addition to the cash prizes, shoppers can take advantage of special discounts of up to 50% across various product categories, including groceries, fresh food, electronics, appliances, and homeware. The anniversary celebration also introduces engaging competitions where participants have the chance to win instant prizes.

A unique aspect of Carrefour’s anniversary celebration is the #C4anniversary social media challenge. Shoppers are invited to visit any Carrefour store in Uganda, record a 30-second video conveying their birthday wishes to the retailer, and share it on their social media accounts using the hashtag #C4anniversary. The video with the highest engagement and views stands a chance to win a cash prize of UGX one million.

Christophe Orcet, the Regional Director for East Africa at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, expressed pride in Carrefour’s growth and success in Uganda over the past four years. He emphasized the brand’s commitment to providing unbeatable value and choice for its customers, a vision that forms the cornerstone of their anniversary campaign.

Carrefour’s loyalty program, MyCLUB, sets it apart as one of the few retailers offering instant discounts and the opportunity to earn and redeem loyalty points. The brand’s impact on the local economy is noteworthy, with 99% of its products sourced from over 500 local suppliers, contributing to job creation and human capital development.

Furthermore, Carrefour’s dedication to corporate social responsibility is evident through its “Round Up Your Bill” initiative, where customers make donations to support vulnerable groups in nearby communities. Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has collected over UGX 290 million, benefiting projects at various institutions, including Peculiar Childcare Support, Kireka Home for Children, Mulago School for The Deaf, Kiswa Primary School, Ntinda School for the Deaf, and The Noah’s Ark Village.
