Hands-on and First Impression of the itel A60

The itel A60 is the most cost-effective 4G smartphone, according to the company’s own words.

itel Mobile launched its first handset last month, the itel A60, a new member of itel A series, positioned to be a 4G high-speed network smartphone, which allows consumers to enjoy a faster and smoother browsing experience.

The company says the itel A60 is a testament to its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of people by empowering them through the power of technology. Adding that the smartphone is a powerful combination of technology, aspirational features, and aesthetics that is going to be a game changer for first-time smartphone customers.

itel Mobile aims to strengthen the existing smartphone portfolio by providing entry-level smartphone users with a vast selection, great value, and a wonderful experience with breakthrough features. The itel A60 we can say so far is itel Mobile’s best entry-level smartphone. The company keeps improving for a better user experience.

The itel A60 offers an immersive experience with its 6.6-Inch IPS LCD watch-notch display, which has a 720 x 1,612px screen resolution (20:9) which provides clear and vivid visuals. The screen runs at 60Hz and has a 120Hz touch sampling rate. The phone has a thick-solid plastic build with a gradient finish at the back. Around the phone, at the top you have a standard earphone jack, at the bottom is a microUSB charging port and a single speaker grill while at the back, there is an 8MP main camera — also on its island are a depth sensor and the fingerprint reader. The watch-notch houses the 5MP selfie camera.

Under the hood, the phone comes with a basic 28nm chipset with four Cortex-A53 cores, a Mali-G820 MP1 GPU, and 2GB of RAM coupled with 32GB storage that is expandable with a microSD card of up to 128GB. It runs on the Android 12 Go Edition operating system and guarantees fast and responsive functionality.

The itel A60 is powered by a non-removable large 5,000mAh battery, which according to the company promises up to 8 hours of web browsing or nearly as much of watching videos.

First Impressions
The itel A60 so far is the company’s best and somewhat well-thought smartphone that at first glance might not think of as an entry-level smartphone. Our first impressions:

  1. The sturdy, thick-solid build and the gradient finish at the back.
  2. The UI has been improved.
  3. The large 5,000mAh battery.
  4. For an entry-level smartphone, the Android 12 Go Edition OS is its best fit to guarantee fast and responsive functionality.
  5. Large display with thin bezels.

Pricing and availability
The itel A60 comes at a recommended retail price of UGX300,000 and is available in three color variants, such as Dawn Blue, Daylight Green, and Sapphire Black — to choose from. The phone is available in both online and offline stores, including itel store, MTN Uganda service centers, Jumia, and prominent/authorized retail outlets.
