Ministries, Departments and Agencies to show case e-Services the NITA e-Government Exhibition

The NITA e-Government Excellence Awards will feature an e-Government Exhibition slated for 3rd December 2021

In a bid to enhance service delivery through the use of E-Government, National Technology Authority (NITA-U) has launched the NITA eGovernment Excellence Awards. The launched happened at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Running under the theme, “Bold Digital Government: Embracing disruptive technologies”; the awards will recognize various Government agencies that have played a remarkable role in availing online government services to the public.

The two-week long celebrations will feature an eGovernment Exhibition slated for the 3rd December 2021.

At this exhibition, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will showcase their e-services and the journey of progress.

This event will attract both public and private sector players: MDAs, Academia, Innovators, Telecoms, and Fintech companies showcasing the future in digital governance.

Entrance to the exhibition is free for the public.

The campaign will be climaxed by a Gala to recognize top Ministries and Government agencies for their role in Promoting E-Government.

The following are the award categories that the Government agencies will compete for:

The eTAX portal is a versatile tax administration tool that allows both Tax payers and revenue administrators to access and administer various revenue services

Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS)

Designed to manage the issuance and centralized tracking of all e-receipts or e-invoices, enforce the usage by all taxpayers required to improve business efficiencies, reduce the cost of compliance through improved record keeping among taxpayers and mitigate tax administration shortfalls while promoting efficiency.

A trade facilitation system which allows traders to submit information requirements for trade regulatory documents, such as: customs declarations, applications for import and export permits, certificates of origin, licenses and trading invoices

3 MDA National Medical Stores NMS+ CSSP  (Client Self Service Portal)

online application that currently enables all higher level health facilities to:

  •  track their procurement plans,
  •  track their annual budgets
  •  place their cycle orders for both UG budget and donor programs items (EMHS)
  •  track their orders (while in process at NMS)
  •  receive delivered EMH supplies from NMS
  •  run several reports

NMS+ CSSP replaces (digitises) all the previous manual processes that were used by all health facilities.

4 MDA Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development National Single Registry for Social Protection (NSR)

A web-based system that supports sector wide coordination and national level monitoring of social protection systems as outlined in the National Social Protection Policy, 2015.

COVID-19 Relief Cash Transfer System for Vulnerable Persons

Web-based data capture system to manage data compilation, approvals and payments.  The main objective of developing the system was to enhance efficiency and integrity in the data capture process of eligible beneficiaries for the COVID-19 Relief Cash.

Safe Pal (Available on Google Play Store)

SafePal is a mobile based application that adolescents and young people (10-24 years) can use to confidentially report cases of Gender Based Violence and get linked to the nearest service providers for help. The app also promotes information exchange on HIV/AIDS, malaria, Sexual &Reproductive Health(SRH) and tuberculosis.

Alternative Care MIS (ACMIS) – Children First Software

The system manages information on Children in licensed Children Homes. I.e.: Child profile Data, Family Records, Health Records, Education, Reunification and Fostering Details based on the Children’s Act(Amended), 2016 and the Alternative Care Framework and Guidelines. The systems also enable tracking of children transferred between Children Homes with a goal of permanent placement. The system provides a planning module for long-term goals i.e. family reunification, kinship adoption, foster to adopt, adoption in line with Ugandan regulations. The system provides statistics on the amount of time a child has spent at a facility, completed planning goals age range of the children in the facility and child listing reports.

5 MDA National Forest Authority License Management System

The goal of the e-service is to facilitate tree farmers/licensees in accessing NFA services online and provide real time information about its clients for better management.

6 MDA Uganda Registration Services Bureau The Security Interest in Movable Property Registry is an e-based system used by financial and non-financial institutions to register security interests.

The System was established to address the lack of access to affordable credit especially for the underserved who lacked fixed assets, which are predominantly used to access credit.

7 MDA Uganda Cancer Institute Digitisation of Radiotherpay and Radiology Services at Uganda Cancer Institute
8 MDA Ministry of Works and Transport Uganda Driver’s License System and Covid-19 Travel Permit Clearance System.

The Uganda Driver Licensing System is a project to license drivers and improve safety on the country’s roads. It produces and issues secure, world-class computerised driving licenses.

11 MDA Financial Intelligence Authority ·         goAML is designed specifically for use by Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) and is the only “off the shelf” IT application of its kind. goAML provides a standard and uniform Anti-Money Laundering platform to fight money laundering and terrorist financing; helps reduce the learning curve of new users with its standard graphical user interface
