MTN GoGames Review: Breaks away Seriousness to Deliver Simple Fun

MTN GoGames was launched to deliver simple fun to MTN customers and break away for a while from the seriousness that is happening.

MTN Uganda in partnership with ATechnos early of May this year launched a free gaming service dubbed “MTN GoGames” that is offering MTN customers access to a huge catalog of mobile games that are played with or without any gaming experience and with or without data. The games are free of charge, however, the service has a selection of premium games that you can play at a fee of as low as UGX500 per day, UGX1,000 per week, or UGX3,000 per month. Those who play premium get to win some prizes.

MTNGoGames can be played by everyone ranging from children to adults, including those without gaming experience since the games are simple and intuitive with the sole aim of delivering fun and relaxation.

The platform can be accessed on your computers but the best is via your smartphone.

So how do we look at the site;

1. Appearance and Design
The appearance and design are simple —colorful in yellow and dark blue with fonts in white and the navigation is self-explanatory. Looking at the design of the platform, the games are categorized according to their genres and they appear in a grid format. However, appear in a list format in list format coupled with star rankings. On selecting a single game, you are given a description of the game and how the game is played.

In addition, we see the menu with the Home, Categories, Freemium, Premium, and Profile tabs appear at the bottom;

  • Categories: shows are the game categories from local games (Ugandan games) to action to adventure, sports, shooting, puzzles to mention a few.
  • Freemium: shows only free games for freemium users.
  • Premium: shows only paid games for premium users. Unlike freemium users, premium users get rewarded for playing games.
  • Profile: shows all your account info including; Profile Info, Active Subscription, and Subscription History.

This is well organized so that it could be easily understood by the users/player. Thus, the appearance and design are eye-catching —with the colors popping out very well.

2. Performance
The performance is really good. If your phone is not slow or hangs a lot, your gaming experience on MTN GoGames will be good. The internet is part of the performance report, the faster and stable internet the better for any service. However, with MTN GoGames, you can play games without data, that is one beauty about it.

3. Uniqueness of the platform

  • Customers do not need to download a separate app to play games. They can access all games via their web browsers on their smartphones or tablets or computers. But the best experience should be your smartphone.
  • All MTN customers get 100MBs every day to play games for free at no data cost to them. The 100MBs can only be used to play games and will reset every day at midnight. When a customer exhausts the 100MBs they will continue to access MTN GoGames with their existing data bundle.
  • The platform has a variety of local (Ugandan) games including Ludo, Hide & Seek, Mweso, Matatu, Dulu.
  • Over 25 new games are added every month.

4. Who can play these games and why
Well, all MTN prepaid and postpaid customers with internet-enabled devices with a web browser can play the games at no cost for freemium subscribers and UGX500 for premium subscribers. The games are not more of competition but rather were launched to deliver simple fun to MTN customers to break away for a while from the seriousness that is happening. In other words, the games are just for passing time, one way to relax or occupy your free time.

So should you play these games?
In our opinion, yes. There is no harm, you don’t require the internet, it is not a competition, it won’t take up your busy time since you’re playing it in your free time. Like we mentioned before, the MTN GoGames is just to break away for a while from the seriousness. You can play one or two games and then get back to business.

What games can we recommended to start with
Well, go local first. If you missed out on childhood games, or you’ve heard of these games and never played them physically, well get them online. It won’t be much fun when played physically but you will still get the joy of playing it online.

So our first recommendation, Ludo, Kwepena, and Mweso. Well if you’re not aware of how the games are played, no worries, every game has instructions on how it is played.

So ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls, with all that, let’s start playing the MTN GoGames.
