LinkedIn App Update Offers On-The-Go Job Applications

Don’t let any more dream job opportunities slip through your fingers. LinkedIn mobile users can now apply for a position directly from their smartphone or tablet.

Last month, LinkedIn added the ability to search for jobs via its mobile app for Android and iOS devices. Now you can take the next step and apply for any position you find without having to bookmark or email the listing for later.

“We have heard from many of you that you want the ability to apply directly from your mobile device but that managing and editing resumes on a small screen can be challenging,” Vaibhav Goel, associate product manager at LinkedIn, wrote in a blog post. “With that in mind, we’re introducing the ability to apply for jobs without a resume attachment from mobile.”

Users of LinkedIn’s app can simply search for a job or pick one from LinkedIn’s personalized recommendations, and then click “Apply” to review their profile. Some jobs will include an “Apply on Company Website” button.

You can choose to edit your profile directly from the app before submitting it or simply click “Next” to be taken to the final screen, where the app asks for confirmation of email address and phone number. Hit “Submit” and LinkedIn will electronically deliver your application to the employer.

Then just sit back, cross your fingers, and wait.

The update is already rolling out globally for English-speaking members. The most recent version is available for free download in the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play Store.

LinkedIn has released a flurry of mobile and Web updates recently, including “Who’s Viewed Your Updates” and “You Recently Visited,” as well as the “Jobs You May Be Interested In” feature, which Goel reported “has been a huge hit with job hunters” and professionals who may not necessarily be explicitly looking for a new position.
