Facebook-messaging platform, WhatsApp could soon be getting a dark mode as seen in the beta version. The feature is still under development and is available for select beta users.
WABetaInfo who spotted the feature notes that WhatsApp has implemented the feature in settings only. The tipster shared screenshots — to show the feature applied in settings, including — data and storage settings, chats settings, and account settings.
The tipster notes that Dark Mode on Android “won’t be OLED friendly but it’s based on a very dark grey color.”
There was no mention of when the feature will roll out.
The Dark Mode feature has been in WhatsApp’s update(s) pipeline since last year. The feature will help reduce strain on user’s eyes when using the app in the night or in low-light setting. It will also help conserve battery on phones that have OLED displays.
