After launching their 2018 iPhone models at the Steve Jobs Theater in California, U.S.A on Wednesday, Cupertino-based smartphone firm; Apple Inc. officially confirmed that its headsets; iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR come with dual-sim functionality. While only users in China can use physical/regular sims, other markets will go for the eSIM (Embedded SIM).

We have an article on eSIM technology, but a brief recap, is the an eSIM is an ’embedded’ chip in a device. Therefore it’s impossible to physically replace them like the physical SIMs. They are more compact than the conventional SIMs and are hence considered to be more efficient, eliminating the fear of mechanical failures. On other hand, they are remotely activated or deactivated by your respective networks/carriers.

From these simple steps by Pocket-Lint, here’s how you can have the eSIM activated in your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR. If you receive your handset already, then you can follow the steps below. The flagship are available for Pre-Order as shipping will start on September 21st for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, and October 26th for the iPhone XR in the U.S and other selected markets. The global launch will be September 28th.
