Unboxing and First Impression of the Tecno Camon CM

TECNO, a premier mobile phone brand under Transsion Holdings, early this year released its first frameless full-screen display smartphone; the mid-range Tecno Camon CM. And stands as the first device from Tecno Mobile to feature the 18:9 aspect ratio. Regular smartphones have come with 16:9 screen ratio which means significant side, top and bottom bezels. But with the 18:9 ratio, you will get larger display on a smaller body

The plastic flagship boasts a slim and elegant body design with its total thickness measuring at about 8mm. Spots a 5.7 inches display, sits a Quad-core processor with Mediatek MT6737 chipset, the processor clocks at 1.25 GHz. 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and runs Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS 2.0 from TECNO Mobile on top. The 16GB internal storage is expandable upto 128GB with a microSD card.

When it comes to camera, Tecno Camon CM comes with 13MP both on the front and rear cameras. Supported with a 4-Led flash for the rear when shooting in a low-light setting. Tecno has always not disappointed its customers when it comes to camera.

In terms of connectivity, supports 2G, 3G, 4G networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, and USB v2.0. All that is backed on a 3,000mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery.

The products arrived here in Kampala, Uganda on 12th March. And this magazine was invited to the press launch where we were given one to review. But first, we share the unboxing and our first impressions.

The Tecno Camon CM comes packed in a black about 10mm wide box. Unboxing, the 18:9 screen ration smartphone sits on top while underneath, are the accessories, including; 3.5mm earphones, USB data and charge cord, wall adapter, phone casing, and manuals.

First impression on the Tecno Camon CM

1. The 18:9 aspect ration, considering the fact that its a mid-range smartphone. The likes of the Phantom 8 are still rated with 16:9 screen ratio.
2. At the moment the display is the unique thing in the Tecno line of mobiles.
3. Has an iPhoneX like look. Slick, light, and portable.
4. 13MP front camera.
5. Less bezels.
6. Multi-tasking.
7. Budget friendly.
