AfriLabs Annual Gathering Set For October in Accra

AfriLabs Annual Gathering is set for October 25th to 27th in Accra, Ghana. It is a gathering which aims to bring together representatives of the African Innovation ecosystem under one platform to interact, share ideas and increase the knowledge economy and will be hosted by iSpace Foundation.

AfriLabs is the first Pan-African network of technology innovation hubs in Africa which connects tech hubs with investors and entrepreneurs. AfriLabs is dedicated to supporting African technology hubs by providing financing, mentoring, networking opportunities and other resources for high potential entrepreneurs including start-ups through the hubs.

The Annual Gathering  will provide a unique opportunity for members and other stakeholders to convene, learn the latest hub insights, and build partnerships between and with hubs. It is going be an assemblage of hub managers, start-ups, innovators & local developer communities  from over 20 African countries.

Other stakeholders will include local, regional and international development agencies, angel investors/venture capitalists and corporate organizations that support the innovation ecosystem in Africa.

“Unlike other technology conferences focused on just big government or telecoms, this gathering will focus on the grassroots innovation ecosystem, their funders, and the local governments. It will provide an opportunity to showcase indigenous innovations, start-ups and help expand the orientation and frontiers of the same.”

Sector focus includes Agritech, mobile tech & E-commerce, public sector Innovations, good governance and media, healthcare, education, digital penetration and inclusive adoption.

Major sponsor of the Annual Gathering is Making All Voices Count (MAVC) and the host will be ispace Ghana.

Other partners include Africa, Facebook, The Rockefeller Foundation, Global Innovation Gathering (gig), Innovation prize for Africa, Microsoft for Africa, giz, OSIWA, and Hivos.
