Airtel Uganda gets new Managing Director

Bharti Airtel has announced the appointment of Anwar Soussa as the Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, with effect from 1 June 2016.

Mr. Soussa is no stranger to the telecommunication industry in Africa. He joined Airtel from MTN Cyprus where he served as the COO and later became the MD for Airtel Chad since 1st May 2015, will be replacing Tom Gutjahr – who has been the MD for Airtel Uganda since August 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the American College of Greece and a Master of Science degree in Marketing from Concordia University, Canada.

Tom Gutjahr will be leaving the position by the end of this month, to pursue other opportunities.

Mr. Anwar Soussa is expected to provide further impetus to Airtel’s mobile commerce services while ensuring availability of the fast growing data network and providing winning customer service support.
