According to MTN officials, the move aims at creating an enabling environment for ordinary people to start business and become Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). All they have to do is to load airtime for as little as 1000ugx up to 10,000ugx or more over a period of a week (Monday to Sunday) to be entered into the weekly draw to win  a MTN Mobile Money kiosk and 2,500,000ugx as start-up capital.

To join the promotion, the customer just has to dial *188# and then continue loading airtime through out every week.

Commenting on the significance of the promotion, MTN Uganda General Manager Financial Services, Phrase Lubega said, “The more a customer loads in a week, the more entries they will be entitled to and this will increase their chances of winning. Every 10,000ugx worth of airtime loaded in a week is an entry in the draw”.

“We shall have five winners, coming from each of the five regions and the campaign will run for 5 weeks.  A total of 25 kiosks will be given out, one to each customer who wins plus 2,500,000ugx. The combined value of the prize for every customer who wins is approximately 8,500,000ugx including the MTN Mobile Money kiosk, the start-up capital, the MTN Mobile Money Agent Kit, Mobile Financial Services training, Point of Sale material plus other related support to kick off their business”. Phrase further added.

Running concurrently with Gaggawala is the MTN Cash box games which will happen in the different regions during the course of the promotion.

Activations per in every region will see Cash box game participants grab as much cash as they can within the cash box.

For customers to participate in the cash box activation, they will be required to load airtime of minimum 1000ugx on the spot and have their numbers entered into a draw to play instantly. Each entry is worth 1000ugx, so the more airtime, the more entries for a customer to play in the Cash box game where two lucky customers whose numbers are drawn will enter the Cash box to tustle it.

The MTN Gaggawala promotion was first launched in March and rewarded over 100 winners each winning one million shilling every day. The winners were drawn from across the country and all they had to do was load airtime worth 1000 shillings and enter daily draws.

“We are very happy with the response our customers have shown towards the MTN Gaggawala promotions which is aimed at changing the lives of Ugandan by winning free cash from MTN. We believe these promotions are changing lives. Gaggawala “Win a Kiosk” is even bigger and better with more cash and prizes which we believe will help customers realize their dreams of starting and running their own businesses” said Mapula Bodibe, MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer.[related-posts]
