The construction of Centenary Group’s state-of-the-art Tier 3 Green Data Centre in Masaka is progressing steadily, with operations set to commence in Q3 2025. This landmark project spearheaded through the Group’s technology arm, Centenary Technology (Cente-Tech) Services, represents a significant step in Uganda’s digital transformation journey.

During a site inspection earlier this week, Centenary Group Chairman, Prof. John Ddumba-Ssentamu, led a delegation of Executives from Centenary Group and Cente-Tech to assess the construction progress. The inspection revealed significant advancement in the project’s development, with civil works nearing completion and preparations underway for the technical installation phase.

“This data centre embodies our promise of equitable social and economic transformation for all Ugandans,” said Prof. Ddumba-Ssentamu. “We’ve intentionally prioritized local content in our construction phase, with several Masaka-based enterprises serving as key suppliers. From construction materials to support services, we’re ensuring that our investments create an immediate positive impact in the communities we serve while building long-term digital infrastructure for the future.”

“Through Cente-Tech, we will continue to push boundaries, drive innovation, and deliver exceptional value to our customers,” adds Kahiigi. “This data centre is just one example of our commitment to building sustainable, future-ready infrastructure that supports Uganda’s digital transformation journey.”

The data centre will serve as a crucial enabler for businesses across the region, offering secure, reliable, and environmentally sustainable data hosting solutions while supporting Uganda’s journey toward becoming a regional digital hub. Its completion in Q3 2025 will mark a significant milestone in East Africa’s digital infrastructure development.

The project demonstrates Centenary Group’s technological ambitions and its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment. By combining cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility and local economic development, the Tier 3 Green Data Centre stands as a testament to the Group’s vision of inclusive, sustainable progress.
