The Inaugural National ICT Summit is finally underway at the Kampala Serena Hotel bringing together over 500 delegates from the various ICT sectors in Uganda and beyond.

The two-day inaugural summit is featuring high-level discussions, solution clinics, and interactive zones facilitated by Uganda’s foremost digital leaders, policymakers, innovators, and industry stakeholders exploring the theme: “Economic Competitiveness through Strategic and Sustainable Digital Transformation.”

In her opening remarks, the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU) Board Chairperson Elizabeth Ntege said Uganda’s ICT sector is on a path to generating more direct employment opportunities, enhancing livelihoods, and contributing significantly to the country’s GDP growth.

In his key note address as the Chief Guest of Honor, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga Baluku, Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance said, “our economy is private-sector led and most solutions belong to the people and government will ensure a conducive environment”.

As the digital economy continues to grow, ICTAU is committed to shaping a future where digital transformation serves as a strategic asset for innovation and national development.

“We are at a decisive stage in Uganda’s digital journey, where the role of ICT is no longer just an option but a critical driver of national competitiveness and social impact,” Elizabeth said.

“This summit is not only about discussing the future of technology but taking tangible steps to ensure Uganda leads in digital transformation across all sectors.”

Day one saw delegates experience hands-on demonstrations of emerging technologies in the Experiential Zones, allowing them to engage with the latest in AI, fintech, and digital healthcare.
