Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director, Boaz Shani explained that the portal is designed to promote Ugandan content by promoting those content and service providers that are already utilizing the internet.

“Whether one is looking for news, email access, social networking, online local radios, business updates about stocks, forex, commodity prices, sports – live scores, all Ugandan fan clubs that have websites, fixtures – local and worldwide, tourism, hotel reviews, maps, flight live updates, community – culture, government, health tips, and so on: all these website links will be found on UGO,” said Boaz Shani.

“UGO will allow for Diversity while bringing it all together in a single website, guiding, helping and letting people discover Uganda every day,” he explained.

The Minister congratulated the developers upon having developed a product that will ‘revolutionalize internet usage and online transactions’ in Uganda.
