Elon Musk’s social network X has started rolling out a new feature that shows more information about an account. Among the information now displayed on a user’s profile is the date the account joined, the country it is based in, when it was verified (when it bought the blue check), how many times it has changed the username, and how the user downloaded the app.

‎The feature was first announced in October by X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, in a post saying the social media platform was “experimenting with displaying new information on profiles, including which country an account is based, among other details.” He added that the experiment would start with his own account and those of the company’s employees to get feedback.

‎Last week, Bier again hinted at the update, saying “Give me 72 hours” in response to a user who asked Musk to make it mandatory for accounts to display information about where they are based as a way of combating “foreign bots tearing America apart.”

‎To view this information, a user will have to click on the date an account joined, and then the rest of the information will be displayed. However, the social platform allows users to adjust whether or not the feature shows their country or only shows their geographical region.

Initially, X had said this would be an option in areas where free speech could have penalties, but at the moment, even U.S. users can choose to set their profile to display either their country or their region/continent.

This change can be accessed from the “About your account” setting under the “Privacy and Safety” settings.
