Following Africa’s historic triumph last year in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia —Africa has again made its mark at the Global Startup Awards —with the continent proudly celebrating four winners, excelling in Best Web 3.0 & AI Startup, Best Green Tech, Best Co-working Space, and Founder of the Year categories.
MoMint from South Africa won Best Web 3.0 & AI Startup, BasiGo from Kenya won Best Green Tech, TechBuzz Hub from Uganda won Best Co-working Space, and Hadeer Shalaby from Egypt emerged as the Founder of the Year winner.
These outstanding achievements further prove Africa’s position as a hub of innovation and ingenuity, demonstrating the potential of the continent’s startups to solve global challenges and drive impactful change.
“African innovations have earned their rightful place on the global stage,” said Ms. Jo Griffiths co-founder of GIIG and GSA Africa in a press statement. “This increased visibility is essential for building investor confidence, attracting funding, and unlocking new opportunities for these four (4) winners.”
The 4 winners were out of the 12 from Africa that won the awards. TechBuzz Hub in particular won the best co-working space award for the second time in a row. The hub won the first award in the same category in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia last year —simultaneously Zofi Cash (from Uganda as well), a startup that is revolutionizing how salaried individuals access their wages, and take top honors, won the best commerce tech award.
The Ugandan Embassy in Turkiye accepted and received the award on behalf of the hub’s Founder and CEO, Mr. Keneth Twesigye.
Twesigye I wasn’t able to make it to Turkey but on behalf of the hub, I’m happy that we brought the award back home to Uganda.
“On behalf of the entire team at TechBuzz Hub, I am deeply honored to say thank you to all those that voted for us, thank you for believing in TechBuzz Hub,” Twesigye told PC Tech Magazine. “We accept this prestigious award for best co-working space and being recognized on such a remarkable stage is truly humbling.”
In a special way, Twesigye extended his gratitude to the Global Startup Awards for the recognition, and to all the startups and entrepreneurs who make the hub a vibrant ecosystem. “This inspires us to continue elevating the coworking experience and empowering innovators worldwide,” he said. He emphasized that coworking is more than just a shared space; “it’s about creating environments where ideas thrive, businesses grow, and people connect meaningfully.”
TechBuzz Hub is dedicated to creating inclusive workspaces, with a mission to help young entrepreneurs fulfill their enterprise dreams and vision through coworking spaces and providing facilities and infrastructure.
