Situated within the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) Nakawa Campus, the innovation hub emerges as a representation of hope and progress, addressing the pressing needs of innovators for workspace, reliable internet connectivity, and creative environments to foster groundbreaking ideas.

With an aptly coined vision, the “Home of ICT Innovation,” the hub’s launch resonates with Uganda’s spirit of Nationalism, championing home-grown potential and reinforcing the country’s commitment to nurturing local talent. This initiative is not just a physical space; it’s a bold statement of Uganda’s dedication to harvesting the rich pool of young, vibrant minds brimming with ideas that could revolutionize the technology landscape.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, and Ms. Elsie Attafuah, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative will preside over the launch. Their participation underscores the national and international importance of this project, aligning with the UNDP’s digital agenda that advocates for inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystems.

This innovation hub stands as a testament to Uganda’s alignment with the UNDP’s digital agenda, emphasizing digital inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation as pillars for national development. The hub is set to propel Uganda into the forefront of digital transformation, contributing significantly to the UNDP’s vision of a digitally equitable world.

The revamp of the National Innovation Hub comes against the backdrop of the recently launched Uganda Digital Transformation Roadmap. Curated by Centenary Technology Services and UNDP, on behalf of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, this roadmap is a strategic framework aimed at harmonizing both private and public sector efforts in digitizing the nation. It represents a cohesive approach to integrating digital technology into all aspects of Ugandan society, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to a digitally empowered future.
