MTN Uganda launches a new campaign under the theme, “Keep some Money on MTN MoMo, It saves” aimed at sensitizing its customers on why it’s important to keep some money on your MTN MoMo wallet and associated benefits of using mobile money.
“This new campaign is about encouraging our customers to keep some MTN MoMo on their phones, because it saves,” Mr. Stephen Mutana, the General Manager, Mobile Financial Services at MTN Uganda said in a press statement.
“You don’t have to deposit all your money, keep some on MTN MoMo to use it when you need it the most. For example, if you have UGX5,000, you can deposit UGX2,000 to your MTN MoMo account. This UGX2,000 will come in handy when you need to buy airtime or data bundles at night when shops are closed or if your power goes off at night and you need to buy Yaka units”, Mr. Mutana added.
In this era where companies like MTN are pushing for a cashless economy, mobile money is convenient, safe and because it requires no carrying physical cash. It could come to ones rescue in emergency situations like in times of COVID-19. Using MTN MoMo comes with benefits like the convenience of paying for products and services like; airtime, voice & data bundles, shopping, utilities among others.
The electronic wallet service is accessible on any mobile phone, which makes it extremely useful in more remote parts of the country. Most Ugandans already know MTN MoMo and how it works with a majority of them already using it for sending and receiving money. Thus, the campaign wants to push this further encouraging them to not spend/send all the money and have a little on the account that will help/save you one day.
“You don’t have to deposit all your money, keep some on MTN MoMo to use it when you need it most,” said Mr. Mutana.
While launching the campaign, Mr. Mutana relatedly, cautioned MTN MoMo customers against sharing their PINs.
“Keep your MTN MoMo PIN safe. Don’t share it with anyone. Nobody can access money on your phone unless you give them your PIN which only you should know”, he concluded.
