Seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets Seedstars World is selecting national winners around the world, including 25 African cities for their annual global competition in Switzerland in 2020 for a chance to win up-to USD$500, 000 (approx. UGX1.9 billion) in equity investment and some unique growth opportunities.

Seedstars World, the biggest startup competition focused only in emerging markets, in May this year announced its tour dates in search for promising startups around the world to compete at its global competition.

Kampala pitch competition is set for Oct. 18th. Interested applicants, innovators, can send in their submission (Follow Link for submission) not later than Oct. 4th.

The search completes so far 11 African cities with the latest being Praia (Cape Verde). The next cities before Kampala are; Lilongwe (Oct. 10), Douala (Oct. 11), and Port Louis (Oct. 17th).

To be eligible for the Kampala competition, startup MUST, have a Minimum Viable Product and a maximum of USD$500,000 (approx. UGX1.9 billion) of funding to date

The best 20 startups will receive training delivered by Seedstars team, local and regional mentors. However, the top 8 will pitch to a jury to select the most promising seed-stage startup to represent Uganda.

The winning startup go to regional summit, where it will have the opportunity to be selected to join the 3 months Growth Program Online. There then head to Switzerland for the global competition.
