Andela, Zimba Women Emerge Finalists in the Women in Tech Challenge

Andela’s Women in Tech – Leadership Program and Zimba Women from Uganda are among the 16 project finalists selected from 200 entries of the Women in Tech challenge. Andela’s Women in Tech – Leadership Program was selected in the Education category while Zimba Women emerged finalist from the Entrepreneurship category.

The Women in Tech challenge recognizes initiatives that have helped improve diversity and promote women empowerment in STEM. This looks at four categories; Education, Entrepreneurship, Science & Research, and Social Inclusion.

Each of category had four finalists. The teams will present their projects to a panel of selected jury in Paris, France on May 15th. The jury will evaluate the impact of the project, the scalability, and reproducibility of the initiative as well as the originality and clarity of the project presentation.

Andela’s Women in Tech – Leadership Program is Andela’s flagship program for Women in Technology that initially started in Uganda and later expanded to other countries where Andela operates. The program focuses on software delivery skills, Entrepreneurship & job readiness skills and Leadership & community skills.

Zimba Women Zimba Women on the other hand is a firm working to create opportunities for women to actively, safely and fairly participate in the economy by providing access to skills and training for women. Zimba is currently working with over 1000+ women-owned businesses and in STEM in Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
