Chinese smartphone manufacturer; Huawei unveiled the Huawei Y9 (2019) flagship in October last year—which then succeeded the Huawei Y9 (2018). The new handset equips upgraded specs compared to its predecessor—packing key highlights such as; a 6.5-inch display, Kirin 710 SoC, and Fingerprint 4.0 identification technology, among others.
The Chinese firm claimed that the Huawei Y9 (2019) targets the young generation who favors are gaming, photography, and entertainment. Looking at its specs and features, the memory, graphics, chipsets, display, camera sensors do favor them.
The smartphone went on sale around mid-October, priced roughly at USD$246 (approx. UGX920,000). Available in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Aurora Purple color variants.
Specifications of the Huawei Y9 (2019)
The 6.5-Inch Dual-SIM is powered by the Kirin 710 processor and comes with AI Power 7.0. It runs on Google’s Andorid 8.1 mobile OS topped on Huawei’s UI, EMUI v8.2.0. This is coupled with a 4GB RAM/64GB ROM or 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, supported with an expandable slot of a microSD card of up-to 256GB.
In terms of optics, the handset features a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP sensor and a 2MP sensor. Meanwhile, at the front, comes a 16MP and 2MP sensors. Both the camera setups are claimed to come with some AI-based features (this will be put to test in the full review).
Huawei claims the handsets 4000mAh non-removable battery provides 9 hours of videos or gaming, 65 hours of music and 14 hours of web-page browsing under a 4G network. Charging wise, supports fast charging.
