With the rise of social media, they have simplified our work, how we communicate, how we connect with the rest of the world, and so forth, but they have also turned out to be addictive. Addictive that many can’t live without it, every second one is on their smartphone with family on the dinner table, in class during a lecture, in bed before going to bed, while driving or walking, to mention a few, that we end up being distracted from the real world. This coming with its own consequences.
However, do you ever come to think how much activity/time you spend on these platforms. Facebook and Instagram have a new feature through which users can track how much time they have spent on each application respectively.
Here’s how:
Facebook:
- Open Facebook app >> head over to the settings page.
- Tap on Your Time on Facebook.
- You will see a bar graph depicting your average time on Facebook on that device.
- Tap any bar to see your total time for that day.
Instagram:
- Open Instagram app >> head over to the settings page.
- Tap on your Activity option.
- Just like Facebook, you will see a bar graph depicting your average on Instagram on that device.
- Tap any bar to see your total time for that day.
Both apps (Facebook and Instagram) allow you to set a daily reminder that will alert you when you’ve reached the amount of time you want to spend on that app for that day.
Readers must note that this feature will only tell you the time you have spent on that application just for that specific device you’re using. It will not reveal the gross absolute numbers of hours you have spent on Facebook or Instagram across devices including your smartphone, tablet or desktop.
